Screenings

SHU SCREEN FILM CLUB

We’ll be watching one movie a week with our students throughout lockdown and social distancing. We meet online via Zoom every Tuesday at 1pm to come together and talk about the thing we are passionate about, namely film! No lectures, no reading, no essays to write up afterwards - just seeing familiar faces and talking about movies.

Tuesday June 23rd 1pm we’ll be online to discuss Da Five Bloods (dir. Spike Lee, 2020)

Tuesday Jun 16th 1pm we’ll be online to discuss Bacurau (dirs. Kleber Mendonça FilhoJuliano Dornelles, 2020)

Tuesday June 9th 1pm we’ll be online to discuss Midnight Cowboy (dir. John Schlesinger, 1969)

Tuesday June 2nd at 1pm we’ll be online to discuss Under the Silver Lake (dir. David Robert Mitchell, 2018)

Tuesday May 26th at 1pm we’ll be online to discuss Blindspotting (dir. Daveed Diggs, Rafael Casal, 2018)

Tuesday May 19th at 1pm we’ll be online talking about Our Little Sister (dir. Hirokazu Koreeda, 2016)

At Sheffield Hallam we regularly screen movies in our purpose-built cinema The Void as part of our teaching and learning activities. We also host special events and community screenings as well as student film club nights. Check this page throughout semester 1 and semester 2 for weekly updates about film programming and scheduling. Everyone is welcome!
