“Documentaries interest me because they give perspective to real events affecting real people. It's the area of cinema most capable of expanding boundaries and generating empathy”.

“I like how documentaries can transport you to a different place in the world that you might never expect to experience. Or that they can shine a different light on a subject that you think you know something about already, so that you view it in a whole new way. Or maybe expose injustice, share inspirational peoples stories or just let you have a glimpse of different way of life”.
BA Film Studies
“A good documentary can enlighten; enlightenment can change an attitude; a change in attitude can change the world”
BA English Literature
“I love documentaries because they give us a real insight into the different layers of society”
BA English Literature
“As an English Literature student, I’ve always found documentaries so interesting. I feel as though they can sometimes offer a more insightful look at a situation, illustrating specific points that a book can’t always do. My favourite kind of documentary are the ones that immerse you into the circumstances of the film, due to their in-depth investigating, for example Louis Theroux’s films, as he makes sure each side is heard”.
BA Film Studies and Screenwriting
"I'm attracted to documentaries as they allow me to discover truths that are hidden by borders"
BA English Language
“I have always had a love for documentaries as I like to have all the facts regarding old global issues so that I can come to my own conclusion and opinion”
BA Film and Screenwriting
