The Secret of Dr. Grinberg

The Secret of Dr. Grinberg (Carles Brugueras, Marieke van den Barsselaar, Ida Cuellar and Ines Massa)

Following the disappearance of this unique scientist, the filmmakers explore a handful of possibilities as they piece together witness recounts. Jacobo Grinberg looked into the potential of the brain and the existence of telepathy but in 1994 he vanished. This Spanish documentary interviews a handful of family members, friends and legal figures within the investigation to establish the important events leading up to his disappearance. We learn about his childhood issues as well as his encounters with medium’s which lead to his change in profession.

In the interviews of Grinberg, you can see an alteration in his point of view regarding science. I initially thought that studying the brain was entirely scientific, however by watching this documentary I now learn how some people rely purely on their telepathic abilities. You are left questioning everything after this documentary. Was he murdered by his violent wife? Or was he abducted into a secret investigation against his will? The ability to alter and control the mind makes you think about whether that is research individuals of power would want publishing to the world. We are also exposed to quotes from Grinberg, throughout the documentary, that were recorded prior to his disappearance which show that he predicted something would happen to him.

This is a thought-provoking documentary to make you query whether telepathy exists and if it does who would want to hide this incredible discovery from the world?
